Dr. Shafiq Ahmed is the Consultant & Unit Head - Urology, Robotic Surgery and Renal Transplant at Manipal Hospital Dwarka, New Delhi, India. He is a US credentialed robotic uro oncologist and specializes in robotic radical prostatectomy, robotic radical cystectomy and robotic partial nephrectomy for treatment of patients suffering from prostate, urinary bladder and kidney cancers. He has previously worked in top national institutes including Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science, Srinagar, Christian Medical college and Hospital and some top private hospitals including ILBS Delhi and Fortis memorial institute Hospital Gurgaon (FMRI).
Having performed over 300 robotic operations for prostate, kidney and urinary bladder cancer, and more than 9 thousand urological procedures in the last 10 years Dr. Ahmed is one of the very few dedicated and skilled urologist and robotic surgeons in India today. He is closely involved in the assessment, treatment and follow up of patients undergoing treatment of urological cancers and prostate Laser surgeries (HOLEP) and laparoscopic surgeries at Manipal Hospital Dwarka, New Delhi, India, which is one of the best centres for urology treatment in India. As the senior urologist and robotic surgeon in this institution, he heads a team of professionals who provide educational and counselling services for helping patients choose the most appropriate and cost-effective treatment options for all stages of these diseases. Besides robotic surgery, Dr. Ahmed is also an acknowledged and expert in open, laparoscopic surgeries and has vast experience in endoscopic LASER operations for prostate, kidney and bladder especially Holmium laser prostatectomy (HOLEP). Dr Ahmed has successfully performed more than 300 percutaneous surgery for kidney stones ( PCNL ) and has recently started the supine PCNL surgery in Manipal Hospital which is the most recent advanced technique for renal stone. He is a key member of Manipal Renal Transplant programme and was instrumental in starting renal transplant in few of top hospital of Delhi including Manipal Hospital Dwarka. He has performed more than 400 Kidney transplant so for including paediatric kidney transplant.
Dr. Ahmed has published his work on outcomes and techniques of prostate, kidney and bladder cancer surgery and has over 15 publications (including 3 book chapters) to his credit in medical journals. As a leading urologist and robotic and Renal Transplant surgeon in the country, he has been instrumental in establishing urology surgery programs in few of top hospital in Delhi and mentoring young surgeons in different institutions including Manipal Hospital.
